I guess only someone who has tried to crochet multicolor amigurumi can truly appreciate this guy. There's no painting involved, all color patterns are built into the crochet. Which means, it doesn't only contain an insane amount color changes (seriously, up to 8 per round o.O) but there's a lot of complicated shuffling to keep those markings smooth and symmetrical - crochet in the round has a natural tilt, so vertical stripes soon turn into spirals if left on their own.
Oh and if that's not enough, stuffing requires great care to push the million yarn ends under the black areas, or they would shadow through the white and spoil the effect.

If I ever make another orca, it will be Iceberg the white male.
