Guinea fowl by LunasCrafts Guinea fowl by LunasCrafts
This guy is more stylized than my usual, but I just couldn't resist the mix of bold colors and silly chicken expression. :D The spotted body was a challenge because I'm only used to color changes of the "drop one color/pick up the other" kind, not to holding both strands simultaneously. And in crochet the two colors can't go to separate hands as in Fair Isle knitting. Next time, I should get a yarn guide.

Pattern by June Gilbank, the finished guinea fowl is available in my Etsy shop.

Aww they're so beautiful.... (and tasty... although I'm never eating one again after I found a worm in the one I was eating... probably one it swallowed when it was killed since it sat in the throat area but it doesn't matter... never again.)

Never tasted them, though to be honest I'm not that fond of poultry anyway. I prefer the eggs. :)

Hmm guinea fowl eggs? I don't think they sell them here, but they sound interesting.^^

Sorry if I was not clear, I meant preferring egg to poultry meat in general, not really guinea fowls. No idea if they even produce enough eggs to steal some for the kitchen. :)

Ooooh, great job on the details! Looks just like the ones I saw at an aviary a few weeks back (they're so plump and cute x3 )

Awn, this is so cute! And all those spots must have been a lot of work to be made.

I love this kind of chicken (we call it Angola chicken here in Brazil).

Thank you! They are really cool animals. :) Actually, it isn't extremely difficult to crochet once you get the hang of working with two strands at once, it just takes some practice. ^-^

This is so cute!  I really like the color markings you were able to get!  Must've taken ages to get through though O.o

Thank you! :) Actually, it isn't too bad, once you get used to working with two colors. With a yarn guide to keep the strands apart, it would be not much more difficult than using just one color. :)

We have 22 of these littles dudes and we let them free roam. They're super noisy and go everywhere on our property. Haha

Aw, I envy you! They are so cool but I'm afraid our neighbors wouldn't approve them.

Yeah, it's usually because of the noise and that they can fly really high. They walk around in huge packs too, so it's like a gigantic boombox moving around.
